Shaka Cafe BGC: Beach Vibes In The City

I was so happy to finally visit Shaka Cafe BGC as the quest of finding good coffee and interesting cafes in and out of the metro is still on.

If you are a cafe-enthusiast like me, you know that Shaka Cafe is one of the most popular places in Cloud 9, Siargao known for its delicious and picture-worthy smoothie bowls. Right now, it also has branches in Moalboal in Cebu, Alona Beach in Bohol, and finally in BGC, Taguig City.

My visit to this cafe has been long overdue because I usually go to the cafe as soon as I learn about it, but since things got in the way, I had a lot of delays. Then, one rainy morning, I felt like it was the right time to try it.

During my visit at Shaka Cafe BGC, I was asked for my vaccination card which the government guidelines required for dining in. I couldn’t sit outside even though they have al fresco seating because of the rain. As usual, I went on a weekday morning and there weren’t many guests. Another advantage of doing this is getting the staff’s close attention to your needs. I chose to sit upstairs.

The whole place give off a rustic, minimalist, tropical vibe. It’s all green and brown with a modern touch. The colors go warm and ambiance is laidback and soothing. It’s really as if you are transported to Siargao in a way. The

Even before I went, I already had a downloaded copy of Shaka Cafe BGC’s menu because I wanted to budget my money. I honestly think that the prices were hefty for me (sorry I’m a broke girl who loves expensive coffee and food) but not too much considering this is in BGC. It is actually just right for this setting.

The best thing and the ultimate highlight of Shaka Cafes is their extensive offering of vegan and healthier options. They’ve got plant-based burgers and sandwiches, all-day vegan sets, grazing board, pasta and noodles, rice bowls, healthy snacks like nachos, and many more.

I ordered an iced latte (my go-to) and asked which pastries are available for the day. I wanted to order and try one of their Insta-worthy smoothie bowls, but I don’t think it will fill me up for all the work I’ll do in the day. I got a blueberry cupcake instead. It’s actually green inside because of the Sprulina. I’ll try one of those bowls next time.

I’d rate this experience 8/10 because it’s quiet and conducive for working, the coffee’s good, and because the food is guilt-free. 100% I’d recommend to people who are looking for a place to have their breakfast, brunch, or dinner dates with friends or family, or just want to try out this Siargao-famous cafe.
